The Dynamax Isata 5 series motorhomes are luxurious and offer the best-in-class towing. The comfortable truck cab is everything you dream of when spending time outdoors. This is confirmed by the barrage of positive reviews from previous owners.

However, there are several common problems that you are likely to encounter with the Dynamax Isata 5 Class C motorhome when you use it for an extended period of time.

Slide Out Issues

Sometimes as you enter your RV, you may notice that one of the slides remains slightly tilted to one side than the other or the main slide does not come in evenly. Isata 5 is designed such that the slide rails on both sides are snug and straight so that when the slide comes in, it is bowed out.

However, no need to be alarmed as it is a common occurrence. Technically speaking, when there is pressure applied to the slide chamber, all slides will bow.

Solution

To diagnose this issue, you can check for any blown fuses or loose and disconnected wires. If there are blown fuses, these can be replaced. But if you suspect that the issue lies within the batteries, ensure that they are fully charged or connect your RV to an external power source. It could also be broken shear pins on the motor. Check to confirm and replace where necessary.

Electrical Issues

There are several electrical issues that are frequently experienced on the Isata 5. A common is a tripping GFCI breaker usually on the far right breaker panel. A reset can be done to temporarily fix it.

The GFI is tasked with feeding any outlet near water and this includes the bathroom, kitchen, and outdoors. Given the nature of the connectivity, you cannot have two appliances running together simultaneously.

Another notable electrical problem is the rear tires getting disconnected due to an issue with the TPMS system. Moreover, the DEF level indicator on the Isata 5 is often malfunctioning. Many sensors tend to fail if the DEF tank is overfilled.

Besides that, the generator backfires often, especially after startup. This can be attributed to an electrical issue if it is not due to running lean. You can have a dealer check it out to diagnose and repair the issue.

Solution

To check for a tripping breaker, you can try unplugging everything from the outlets. If it happens, then the issue is with the receptacle or wiring. If it does not, plug each item one at a time into the outlets until it happens. The TPMS sensors, or other damaged sensors, could be changed. Replace the spark plug to see whether the generator situation improves.

AC Problems

There are some users that report experiencing the front area not cooling down adequately even though the AC runs continuously. For instance, if the AC runs at 80 degrees Fahrenheit, the unit will begin operation when the interior temperature reaches 80 degrees.

However, after two hours of operation, it indicates a temperature reading of 90 degrees on the control panel. Also, it is common for both the kitchen air vents to not supply any air.

Solution

The issue may not lie within the AC, but rather the ducts. Usually, if the dump panels are open, very little air is allowed through the ducts. Therefore, you can close the quick dump and bedroom outlets and then inspect them.

Check for any blockage or loose divider between the return air and cold air. Remove the grill as well and check for it. Alternatively, if you do not find anything, you can take it to a repair shop.

Sway Problems

You are likely to experience sway problems on the road if you are moving too fast. You may feel as if the vehicle is going a little out of control.  It is usually accompanied by some noises especially if you are driving the car down. This can be attributed to the stabilizer.

Solution

The best way to go around this issue is to install sway bars to minimize the swaying.

Brake Problems

The common issue relating to the brakes is the emergency brake lights turning on. You can notice that when you release the brakes, the emergency brake lights do not go off.

Also, there is too much slack in the emergency brake line possibly as a result of cable adjustment. The RAM fails to work on the brake cable if you cannot tighten the adjustment further.

Solution

Thankfully, brake cable tighteners are a Dorman specialty—you can find them in any car parts store. This is a straightforward solution since the cable will be relieved of its tension and get back to working optimally.

If the issue is that the adjuster is tangled in the wire coil, you can try shifting the wiring to clear the wire. You can also add a space for washers under the nut if the cable is not moving at all.
